Adding an H5P Interactive Content

Adding an H5P interactive content to your course

To add an H5P interactive content to your course page:

With the editing turned on at the course main page, locate the section or topic you wish to add your H5P content then click the Add an activity or resource link and choose H5P. All settings may be expanded by clicking the Expand all link at the top-right corner.

Configure the following H5P settings:

General

Give your H5P a name and, if needed, a description. If you want the description to display on the course page, check the box. 

  • Package file
      • Here you can add your H5P content by uploading an H5P file or choosing an existing H5P file in the Content bank.

When selecting an H5P file from the Content bank, note that if you choose to make a copy of the file, any modifications to the original file will not be displayed. But if you choose to create an alias/shortcut to the file, any modifications will be mirrored.

H5P options

  • Allow download
      • This allows the H5P content to be downloaded as an .h5p file which can be reused in other sections and courses or uploaded to any website that supports H5P content. Enable this by ticking the checkbox beside the text.
  • Embed button
      • This allows you to view the embed code for the H5P content which can be copied for use in your own webpage. Enable this by ticking the checkbox beside the text.
  • Copyright button
      • This allows a button to be displayed that, when clicked, redirects to the H5P.org website. Enable this by ticking the checkbox beside the text.

Grade

Set a grade, grading method, and grade category here, along with the grade to pass which may be connected with Activity completion and Conditional activities such that a student will not be able to access a follow up activity until they have obtained the required grade in the lesson.

Attempt options

You can enable attempt tracking and set a grading method here. Note that the grading method is only applicable if you are using a point system for grading (which is specified in the Grade settings).

Other settings

Choose the ‘Common module’, ‘Restrict access’, ‘Activity Completion’, and ‘Tags’ settings as you would when you set up any resource or activity. These general settings are further discussed in Activities and Resources: General Settings.

Inserting H5P interactive content into other activities

To insert an H5P interactive content into other activities or resources:

Click the H5P button in the editor then click Browse repositories to look for an H5P file in the Content bank. Choose to either make a copy of the file or create an alias/shortcut to the file then click the Select this file button. Click the Insert H5P button when you are done.
