The UP Tacloban College Division of Management is offering an online certificate course on Placemaking: Planning and Designing for Public Spaces for planning and development coordinators of local government units (LGUs) in Eastern Visayas from 10 November to 4 December 2020.
Placemaking is the process of (re)creating public spaces to promote health and well-being and safer and more inclusive cities and municipalities. It is a worldwide movement in support of the fundamental right to place, including a sense of belonging, place attachment, and place stewardship, which in turn are linked to engaged citizenship.
UP Tacloban’s four-week online course aims to contribute to building sustainable and resilient communities and ecosystems in Eastern Visayas by enhancing the participants’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes with regard to placemaking. It also aims to support the professionalization of environmental planning practice in the region.
Registered course participants will have access to course modules via UP Tacloban’s virtual learning environment (VLE) and twice weekly three-hour meetings via Zoom. Course enrollees who will be renewing their EnP licenses will earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units. Up to 60 enrollees can be accommodated in this first offering. Individuals who are interested in enrolling may email firstname.lastname@example.org.
